Dragon Quest 3 Remake: How to Get the Yellow Orb

The Yellow Orb is located in Merchantburg, a town initially represented as "???" on the map. Its name is determined by the merchant you hire and leave to establish the town.

Locating Merchantburg (???)

After obtaining the ship from the King of Portoga (following the Black Pepper quest), sail to the northeast corner of the map to find Merchantburg. The quest marker will appear if enabled.

Optimal Timing for Visiting Merchantburg

While orb acquisition order is flexible, visiting Merchantburg early (immediately after getting the ship) is recommended. The town requires significant growth time before yielding the Yellow Orb. This allows you to collect other orbs concurrently.

Acquiring the Yellow Orb

1. Establish Merchantburg: Hire a merchant from PALS in Aliahan. Travel directly to Merchantburg to avoid unnecessary combat.

2. Meet the Old Man: Enter the building in Merchantburg and speak to the old man. He requires a merchant to found the town. Assign your newly hired merchant. The town's name will then be established.

3. Merchantburg's Growth: After establishing the town, proceed to collect the Purple Orb (Orochi's Lair) and the Blue Orb (Gaia's Navel). You will receive notifications prompting you to return to Merchantburg as it grows through five stages. Each visit reveals a slightly larger town, culminating in a large club's construction. On your fourth visit, you'll notice the merchant becoming unpopular.

4. The Revolt: On your fifth and final visit (at night), you'll find the merchant imprisoned following a town revolt. Speak to him in the jail cell (the building south of his former home). He reveals the Yellow Orb's location.

5. Finding the Yellow Orb: Return to the merchant's house. A quest marker will appear behind the sofa. Interact with the ground to obtain the Yellow Orb.

The Yellow Orb is typically the penultimate orb acquired. Other orb locations include: Red Orb (Pirates' Den), Green Orb (Theddon), and Silver Orb (Maw of the Necrogond/Necrogond Shrine).
