DOOM launched on Apple's Lightning/HDMI adapter
The DOOM community's ingenuity knows no bounds! Recently, NyanSatan successfully ran the classic DOOM game on Apple's Lightning/HDMI adapter—a feat that's captivated tech enthusiasts. The adapter, surprisingly, boasts its own iOS-based firmware and a processor clocked at up to 168 MHz. NyanSatan accessed this firmware, leveraging a MacBook to overcome the adapter's lack of internal memory, and then executed the game.
Meanwhile, news about a new DOOM iteration is making waves. DOOM: The Dark Ages promises unprecedented accessibility and customization. Players will have granular control over various aspects, including demon aggression, enemy damage, projectile speed, and even the overall game tempo. Executive producer Marty Stratton highlights the studio's commitment to accessibility, emphasizing that players can adjust difficulty settings to their preference. These adjustments extend to modifying enemy damage, projectile speed, and other parameters influencing the game's pace and challenge.
Importantly, Stratton confirms that understanding DOOM: The Dark Ages' storyline doesn't require prior experience with the franchise; its narrative stands alone, even for newcomers to the series, and connects smoothly with DOOM: Eternal.
