How Doom 2099 Functions in Marvel Snap

Doom 2099 is a 4-cost, 2-power card with a unique ability: After each turn, if you played exactly one card, a DoomBot 2099 is added to a random location. These DoomBot 2099s (also 4-cost, 2-power) provide an ongoing buff: +1 power to all other DoomBots and Doctor Doom. Crucially, this buff applies to both DoomBot 2099s and regular Doctor Doom bots.

Playing one card per turn maximizes Doom 2099's potential. An early Doom 2099 can yield three DoomBot 2099s, significantly boosting your board presence. Combining this with Doctor Doom on the final turn amplifies its power even further. Ideally, Doom 2099 functions as a 17-power card (or more with early placement or Magik).

However, two key weaknesses exist: the random placement of DoomBot 2099s (potentially hindering your strategy) and vulnerability to Enchantress, which negates the DoomBot buffs.

Doom 2099's one-card-per-turn requirement synergizes well with Spectrum Ongoing decks. Here are two examples:

Deck 1: Spectrum/Electro Focus

  • Ant-Man
  • Goose
  • Psylocke
  • Captain America
  • Cosmo
  • Electro
  • Doom 2099
  • Wong
  • Klaw
  • Doctor Doom
  • Spectrum
  • Onslaught

This budget-friendly deck (only Doom 2099 is a Series 5 card) offers flexibility. Early Doom 2099 placement via Psylocke or a turn 3 Electro sets up massive power spread. Alternatively, focus on spreading Doctor Doom or utilizing Spectrum buffs if Doom 2099 isn't played early. Cosmo protects against Enchantress.

Deck 2: Patriot Style

  • Ant-Man
  • Zabu
  • Dazzler
  • Mister Sinister
  • Patriot
  • Brood
  • Doom 2099
  • Super Skrull
  • Iron Lad
  • Blue Marvel
  • Doctor Doom
  • Spectrum

Another affordable deck (only Doom 2099 is Series 5), this strategy utilizes the typical Patriot game plan. Early game cards like Mister Sinister and Brood pave the way for Doom 2099, Blue Marvel, and Doctor Doom. Zabu provides cost reduction for early-game plays. Note that you can strategically skip triggering Doom 2099 on the final turn to play two 3-cost cards instead, adding flexibility. Super Skrull counters other Doom 2099 decks, but the deck remains vulnerable to Enchantress.

Is Doom 2099 Worth Spotlight Cache Keys or Collector’s Tokens?

While Daken and Miek (released alongside Doom 2099) are relatively weak, Doom 2099 is a worthwhile investment. His power and deck-building affordability make him a future meta staple. Use Collector's Tokens if available, but don't hesitate to acquire him; he's poised to become one of Marvel Snap's most impactful cards.
