Crytek Announces Restructuring, Layoffs, and Crysis Game Delay

Crytek has confirmed a restructuring initiative involving staff reductions. The company, facing financial difficulties, has unfortunately laid off approximately 60 employees, representing about 15% of its 400-person workforce.

Simultaneously, Crytek announced a temporary halt to development on the next Crysis game, a decision reportedly made in Q3 2024. The studio is now focusing all its resources on Hunt: Showdown 1896.

Internal efforts to reassign affected staff to other projects, including Hunt: Showdown 1896 and the future Crysis title, proved unsuccessful. Despite cost-cutting measures, layoffs were deemed necessary.

Crytek's immediate priorities are expanding Hunt: Showdown 1896 content and continuing development of its CRYENGINE technology. The new Crysis game is indefinitely delayed. The company assures that departing employees will receive comprehensive severance packages and career support.

While acknowledging these challenges, Crytek expresses confidence in its future prospects.
