Dark & Darker Mobile could be getting a name change from Krafton
Dark and Darker Mobile is facing a name change as Krafton terminates its agreement with Ironmace. This decision, while seemingly unrelated to a recent lawsuit ruling according to Krafton, follows a court order mandating Ironmace pay Nexon $6 million in damages. The lawsuit centers on allegations that Ironmace, founded by former Nexon employees, used trade secrets from a cancelled Nexon project (codenamed P3) to develop Dark and Darker.
Despite Krafton's claims of unrelatedness, the termination of their global licensing agreement with Ironmace makes the connection hard to ignore. This means the mobile adaptation will be a fully independent release, regardless of its future name. The irony isn't lost: Ironmace initially sued Nexon for copyright infringement. Now, even after severing ties, Krafton appears poised to continue development, essentially creating a separate version of the game.
This situation, however ethically questionable, opens the floodgates for similar game releases. While the name change and severed partnership might seem concerning, the planned global launch of Dark and Darker Mobile (or its successor) remains unaffected—at least for now. We'll provide updates should any further developments occur. Here's hoping the final product retains the quality we lauded in our previous review.
