Controller-Enhanced PC Gaming: A Guide for Enhanced Enjoyment

PC gaming is largely synonymous with keyboard and mouse controls, especially for genres like first-person shooters and strategy games that benefit from the enhanced precision. However, some PC games are arguably better experienced with a controller. Games emphasizing fast-paced movement or melee combat often lend themselves well to gamepad controls, particularly those originating on consoles before transitioning to PC.

While many PC releases offer keyboard and mouse support, certain titles are more naturally suited to controllers. This is especially true for genres traditionally associated with consoles.

Recent Releases and Upcoming Titles Potentially Better with Controllers:

The end of 2024 saw several high-profile releases, many of which are arguably better with keyboard and mouse. However, some exceptions exist: Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver 1&2 Remastered, for example, might offer a slightly improved experience with a gamepad, though the difference isn't dramatic.

Several upcoming PC games are anticipated to shine with controller support:

  • Freedom Wars Remastered: A PS Vita revival echoing the Monster Hunter formula, likely best suited to controller play.
  • Tales of Graces f Remastered: The Tales series consistently benefits from gamepad controls, and this remaster is expected to follow suit.
  • Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth: Given the similar combat system to its predecessor, a controller is likely preferred on PC.
  • Marvel's Spider-Man 2: A PS5 port to PC often implies a controller-centric design, although keyboard and mouse might still be viable.

A Note on 2024 Releases: A 2024 Soulslike game (Another Crab's Treasure) has also been identified as potentially better with a controller.
