Classic Consoles Make Retro Comeback: PC, PS1 Nostalgia Reemerges

Microids has announced that Little Big Adventure – Twinsen's Quest, a reimagining of the 1994 action-adventure game Little Big Adventure, will be coming to all major platforms this autumn. Microids' release of Little Big Adventure — Twinsen's Quest will benefit from several upgrades courtesy of the 21st century, while still encapsulating the same ambiance as the original. Little Big Adventure was conceived by developer Frederick Raynal's team at Adeline Software International, while Raynal himself is Infogrames' former designer/lead programmer.

An emerging studio by the name of 2.21 can be credited for the development of Little Big Adventure – Twinsen's Quest, while publishing rights go to Microids, a French company currently working on a new Totally Spies adventure game. Adeline Software International was founded in 1993 as a subsidiary of Delphine Software International, consisting of mostly Infogrames alumni. Adeline is responsible for both Little Big Adventure and Little Big Adventure 2, but after the definitive liquidation of Delphine in 2004, Adeline declared bankruptcy and the company is now defunct.

But now, Microids have released a new trailer for Little Big Adventure – Twinsen's Quest, which invites players to re-enter the world of Twinsun with brand-new visuals and smoother gameplay for the iconic 1994 masterpiece. Some of the remake's key features include a compelling story with deep themes, a revamped level layout and redesigned controls, an enhanced version of Twinsen's trademark weapon, brand new artistic direction, and a new soundtrack by the original composer, Philippe Vachey, who is no stranger to Raynal after working with him on the successful Alone in the Dark series.

Little Big Adventure – Twinsen’s Quest Coming to All Major Platforms Later This Year

Little Big Adventure – Twinsen's Quest takes place on a planet called Twinsun, where four different sentient species live in perfect harmony. However, the tranquility of Twinsun is disrupted when a scientist by the name of Dr. Funfrock invents cloning and teleportation. As a result, Funfrock establishes total control over the inhabitants of Twinsun, forcing the protagonist Twinsen to undertake a grand adventure with intricate puzzles and formidable foes. Twinsen's objective is to defeat Dr. Funfrock and restore order to Twinsun by freeing the residents from his influence.

In October 2011, Little Big Adventure was re-released for download via GOG.com, where it became available on PC and Mac. A few years later, Android and iOS versions of Little Big Adventure were also released. Talks of a new installment in the Little Big Adventure series dated back as far as 2021, when the newly formed team known as 2.21 made an announcement via the original game's co-creator, Didier Chanfray, who worked on the time-traveling action-adventure gameTime Commando. Now, all the hard work from Chanfray's team has led to Little Big Adventure – Twinsen's Quest, which is slated to launch on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG later this year.
