"Ciri to Lead The Witcher 4: A Natural Choice, Says CD Projekt Red"

CD Projekt Red has revealed that Ciri will take center stage in The Witcher 4, marking a pivotal shift in the series' narrative. Executive Producer Malgorzata Mitrega explained that this transition from Geralt to Ciri is a natural progression, both in terms of the game series' development and the storyline of Andrzej Sapkowski's original works. Mitrega highlighted that with Geralt's story arc concluded in The Witcher 3, the spotlight now turns to Ciri, whose character offers a wealth of potential for new storytelling and gameplay.

Ciri, having been intricately developed in both the books and the games, possesses a depth and complexity that CD Projekt Red aims to explore further. Director Sebastian Kalemba pointed out that Ciri's younger age provides players with greater freedom to mold her character, a flexibility that wasn't possible with the more established Geralt. This shift not only opens up new creative avenues but also promises a fresh gameplay experience.

Interestingly, the idea of changing the protagonist to Ciri has been under consideration for nearly a decade, underscoring CD Projekt Red's long-term vision for her as Geralt's successor. Kalemba also mentioned that the new challenges and perspectives Ciri faces will lay the groundwork for an epic new saga within the The Witcher universe.

Actor Doug Cockle, the voice behind Geralt, has endorsed the move, citing Ciri's rich potential as a central character. While Geralt will still appear in The Witcher 4, he will no longer be the focal point, allowing the narrative to pivot towards Ciri and explore new dimensions of the The Witcher world.
