"Amazon's God of War Series Greenlit for Season 2 Pre-Release"

The much-anticipated Amazon adaptation of the iconic video game "God of War" is already set for two seasons, as confirmed by the new showrunner, Ronald D. Moore. Stepping into the role previously held by Rafe Judkins, and taking over from executive producers Hawk Ostby and Mark Fergus, Moore shared insights into his involvement during a conversation with his fellow "Battlestar Galactica" alum, Katee Sackhoff.

"Right now, I'm working on an adaptation of, there's a video game called God of War, a big title in the gaming world that Amazon has ordered two seasons of and they've asked me to come in," Moore revealed. "So I'm literally in the writer's room, and working on that. That's my new thing."

Despite not being an avid gamer himself, Moore expressed his appreciation for classic arcade games like Defender, Asteroids, and Centipede. He humorously recounted his struggle with modern game controllers, saying, "'Press R1.' Which one's R1? Oh, I'm dead," highlighting his unfamiliarity with current gaming technology.

In his new role, Moore is not only the showrunner but also serves as a writer and executive producer for the series. His extensive experience includes working on acclaimed shows such as "Star Trek: The Next Generation," "Deep Space Nine," and as the showrunner for the 2000s revival of "Battlestar Galactica."

While some members of the original team have departed, Sony's Cory Barlog remains on board as an executive producer, ensuring a connection to the game's roots. The series will be based on the 2018 installment of "God of War," promising a faithful adaptation of the beloved narrative.

Amazon's track record with video game adaptations, such as the successful "Fallout" TV show and "Secret Level," suggests a promising future for the "God of War" series. With two seasons already confirmed, fans can look forward to an epic journey on their screens.
