Unleash the power of your keys with KeyMapper, the open-source key remapping app!
What can you remap?
KeyMapper lets you customize the functionality of your hardware buttons. This includes:
- Fingerprint gestures (on compatible devices)
- Volume buttons
- Navigation buttons
- Bluetooth and wired keyboards
- Buttons on other connected devices
Important Note: Only physical hardware buttons can be remapped. There's no guarantee all buttons will work, and the app isn't designed for game control. Your device manufacturer might prevent remapping certain buttons.
Advanced Customization:
Create powerful "triggers" by combining multiple keys from different devices. Each trigger can perform multiple actions, with keys pressed simultaneously or sequentially. Customize responses for short, long, and double presses. Set "constraints" to activate remappings only under specific conditions.
What can't you remap?
Some buttons are off-limits for remapping:
- Power button
- Bixby button (and similar OEM buttons)
- Mouse buttons
- Game controller D-pads, thumbsticks, and triggers
Key remapping won't function with the screen off—this is an Android limitation.
Remapping Actions:
KeyMapper offers a vast array of actions; the full list is available here: https://docs.keymapper.club/user-guide/actions Note that some actions require root access and specific Android versions.
Permissions:
KeyMapper requests permissions only when necessary for specific features.
- Accessibility Service: Essential for key remapping; allows the app to monitor and intercept key events.
- Device Admin: Enables screen-off actions.
- Modify System Settings: Allows brightness and rotation adjustments.
- Camera: Controls the flashlight.
Enabling the accessibility service might disable "enhanced data encryption" on some devices.
