The app includes both winning and defensive problem types, ensuring a well-rounded approach to your training. Premium members benefit from advanced custom sets that focus on your specific weaknesses. These can be tailored to target particular tactical motifs like pins, forks, and discovered attacks, or they can focus on your past mistakes, allowing you to practice until you master them. The app also employs a spaced repetition learning algorithm, which prioritizes problems you frequently get wrong, optimizing your learning curve. Note that while these custom sets can be used within the app, they must first be created on the Chesstempo.com website.

Play Online

Engage in thrilling matches against other Chesstempo users, with support for both live and correspondence chess games. After every rated game, benefit from a detailed post-game analysis powered by our cluster of hundreds of Stockfish instances, delivering high-quality insights in just seconds. Premium members can further enhance their learning by having tactics problems extracted from their rated games, available for practice within the tactics training interface, and customizable through advanced custom sets.

Opening Training

Develop and refine your opening strategies with the ability to create multiple black and white repertoires. You can import these repertoires from PGN files or manually enter moves on the board. Utilize spaced repetition to train your repertoires effectively, with options to focus on specific branches, individual repertoires, or all repertoires of a single color. You can also limit your training to a certain depth and target moves that resist learning. Enhance your training by adding comments, engine evaluations, and annotations to each move, and export your repertoire and insights to PGN. Track your progress with graphs that show your learning status and history over time. Free members can use the opening explorer to select moves up to a depth of 10 moves, while premium members can leverage the cloud engine for in-depth analysis of any position.

Endgame Training

Hone your endgame skills with practice positions ranging from 3 to 7 pieces, all extracted from real games. With over 14,000 different positions available, free members can practice 2 positions per day, while premium members enjoy access to more positions and the ability to use custom sets. These sets can focus on specific endgame types, recurring mistakes, or employ spaced repetition for effective learning. Note that some custom set types must be created on the Chesstempo website before use in the app.
