Tides of Annihilation Extended Gameplay Trailer Showcases 11 Minutes of Intense Action

Following its global reveal at last week's State of Play, Tides of Annihilation unveils an extended gameplay trailer, offering an in-depth look at its upcoming action-packed adventure. Discover more about this exciting new title below.

Exploring a Post-Apocalyptic London

First showcased at PlayStation's State of Play, the hack-and-slash action-adventure game Tides of Annihilation has generated significant buzz with its recently released extended gameplay trailer.

The trailer presents early gameplay footage featuring Gwendolyn and her shape-shifting sword companion, Niniane, navigating the ruins of a devastated, otherworldly London, ravaged by an Outworld invasion. Their journey through decaying streets is constantly challenged by relentless enemies. Gwendolyn's ability to summon over ten legendary knights, inspired by King Arthur's Round Table, is then revealed.

A Glimpse into the Combat System

After overcoming obstacles and traversing a magical portal, the duo confronts Mordred in a challenging boss battle. This encounter highlights the game's dynamic combat system, underscored by a haunting choral score.

According to producer Kun Fu on PlayStation.Blog, the battle system offers "intuitive co-op combat within a single-player experience." Players can summon two spectral knights at a time, each with unique combat roles, requiring strategic decision-making. "The interaction between Gwendolyn and the knights creates a dynamic, fast-paced, and deeply engaging combat experience. It's a system our team (veterans from leading game studios) fell in love with during internal playtests."

Comparisons to Devil May Cry and Bayonetta

High-Octane Combat and Visuals

Online viewers have lauded the trailer's art direction, style, fluid combat, and overall gameplay, drawing comparisons to acclaimed titles like Devil May Cry, Bayonetta, Elden Ring, NieR: Automata, Stellar Blade, and Final Fantasy XVI. The trailer's impact has generated significant excitement and anticipation for the game's launch.

Tides of Annihilation, the debut title from Chengdu-based Eclipse Glow Games, blends Arthurian legend with an alternate reality London. Players embody Gwendolyn, a survivor of an apocalyptic event. While a precise release date is yet to be announced, the game is slated for release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
