Stellar Blade Prepares to Slice onto PC in 2025
Stellar Blade, initially a PlayStation exclusive, is officially coming to PC in 2025! This article details the announcement and explores potential implications for PC players.
PC Release Confirmed for 2025
Following hints earlier this year, developer SHIFT UP has confirmed the PC port, citing the growing PC gaming market and the success of titles like Black Myth: Wukong as key reasons. While a specific release date is yet to be announced, SHIFT UP plans to maintain the game's popularity through ongoing marketing and the upcoming November 20th release of a NieR: Automata collaboration DLC and Photo Mode.
Potential PSN Requirement Raises Concerns
Stellar Blade's status as a Sony-published title, with SHIFT UP acting as a second-party developer, raises the possibility of a mandatory PlayStation Network (PSN) account link for PC players. This would unfortunately exclude players in regions lacking PSN access. Sony's stated reason for this practice is to ensure "safe" live-service gameplay, a justification questioned by many given its application to single-player titles.
The necessity of a PSN account for the PC version remains unconfirmed. Since SHIFT UP retains IP ownership, it's possible this requirement might not be enforced. However, such a restriction could significantly impact PC sales, potentially hindering SHIFT UP's goal of surpassing console sales.
