Best Redwing Decks in Marvel Snap
Marvel Snap's roster of animal companions has been rather limited—Cosmo, Groose, Zabu, Hit Monkey, and that's pretty much it. But that's changing with the Brave New World season! Falcon's trusty sidekick, Redwing, is swooping into the game, adding a feathered friend to the mix.
How Redwing Works in Marvel Snap
Redwing is a 3-cost, 4-power card with a unique ability: The first time this moves, add a card from your hand to its old location.
However, there are a few caveats. Redwing's ability is a one-time use only. Attempts to reactivate it using cards like Symbiote Spider-Man or by returning it to your hand won't work, significantly limiting its strategic applications.
Precisely targeting a card with Redwing proves challenging. Move decks often feature low-cost cards like Iron Fist, which you'd rather avoid targeting. Conversely, Scream decks typically manipulate opponent's cards, not your own.
Despite these limitations, there are affordable ways to move Redwing, such as using Madame Web or Cloak for players with lower Collection Levels. The potential payoff is significant; imagine strategically placing a Galactus early or pulling a powerful card like The Infinaut.
Best Day One Redwing Decks in Marvel Snap
Ares and Surtur dominated the previous season, and they're back with a revamped Scream-based build, incorporating cards like Aero and Heimdall. Redwing surprisingly finds a place here, although it's less crucial than Surtur on turn 3. Here's the decklist:
Hydra Bob, Scream, Kraven, Captain America, Redwing, Polaris, Surtur, Ares, Cull Obsidian, Aero, Heimdall, Magneto. [Click here to copy this list from Untapped.]
This is a costly deck, featuring several Series 5 cards: Hydra Bob, Scream, Redwing, Surtur, Ares, and Cull Obsidian. Hydra Bob can be substituted with a different 1-cost card—Rocket Raccoon or Iceman are viable options—but the rest are essential.
The strategy revolves around playing Surtur on turn 3, followed by high-power cards to boost its power. Scream provides an alternative win condition by stealing power. The deck includes several "push" cards (Polaris, Aero, Magneto) to manipulate board positioning. Redwing can be moved into Heimdall, not only buffing Surtur but also adding a powerful card from your hand.
Another potential home for Redwing is in a Madame Web deck, although Dagger's nerf has diminished the viability of move-focused decks. Here's a possible list:
Ant-Man, Madame Web, Psylocke, Sam Wilson, Captain America, Luke Cage, Captain America, Redwing, Doom 2099, Iron Lad, Blue Marvel, Doctor Doom, Spectrum. [Click here to copy this list from Untapped.]
This deck features two Series 5 cards: Madame Web and Doom 2099. While Madame Web isn't strictly necessary, removing her necessitates removing Redwing for another Ongoing card like Mobius M. Mobius.
This is essentially a Doom 2099 Ongoing deck. The goal is to deploy Doom 2099 quickly to distribute power across locations. Madame Web assists by repositioning Doom 2099's bots to prevent location overflow and provides another way to move Sam Wilson's shield. Crucially, Redwing can be moved into Madame Web to draw a card the following turn. However, this is the deck's only reliable method of activating Redwing.
On turn 6, play either Doctor Doom or Spectrum to further spread or concentrate power, respectively, aiming for victory.
Is Redwing Worth Spotlight Cache Keys or Collector's Tokens?
Currently, no. Redwing feels underpowered and fits into a weak archetype. It's advisable to save your resources for more impactful cards in the coming weeks. A significant buff from Second Dinner might change this assessment.
